In the field of education, it is essential that every student’s needs are being met. Throughout history, students with special needs have not always been integrated into the school system. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act collaborates special and general education teachers to include students with special needs in the general education classroom as much as possible. I feel that IDEA is a very powerful act because it does not deny students with special needs to the same education as students that do not have special needs. I like the fact that IDEA enables students with special needs the chance to participate in the general education classroom. IDEA does not deny students with special needs to the same education as students without special needs and should be integrated into every school setting as much as possible. I agree with every aspect of IDEA because I feel it gives students with disabilities the best possible education. Certain teachers can find the IDEA act unnecessary too much work and too much paperwork for an unnecessary cause, while other teachers, like myself, find it to be one of the most important aspects for children with disabilities and his or her education.
Including students with special needs in the general education classroom gives them a chance to interact with his or her classmates. Also, it gives students without special needs the opportunity to work together those students with special needs. As a future educator, I find it important to work together with other school professionals to enhance my career and enhance the lives of my students. I have worked with IEP’s before; I find it extremely necessary that students interact with their peers as much as possible. When working with IEP’s, the children’s needs are all planned out by his or her “team” which includes parents, teachers, and other professionals. It outlines what needs to be done throughout the entire year. Students learn from being around their peers, and a lot of the time students with special needs are rejected that opportunity because accommodation and medications for those students are not being met. IDEA also includes students with disabilities the chance to participate in local and state assessments. I feel strongly towards IDEA because it works for the greater good of students with disabilities by incorporating them into the general education classroom as much as possible.
I do not like that some students with special needs are sometimes left out in the school setting simply because of his or her disability. IDEA makes it mandatory that students be included into the general education classroom as much as possible but there are no assessments that show it is actually occurring the schools. Certain schools may say they incorporate students with special needs in the general classroom as much as possible but there is nothing say that it is being done. Some of the time, general education teachers do not feel comfortable teaching students that require certain accommodations and modifications and I feel they are not being taught the same education as students that do not require accommodations and modifications.

The argument you present does a good job of identifying some of the opposition's viewpoints. I am beginning to see how this topic will fit into the larger project.
