Ad CritiqueNike Shoe Ad
I found a Nike shoe advertisement on the internet. The ad shows an image of blood on a street with two people examining it in the background. There is also a Nike shoe sitting in front of the blood. The area in the background is blurred and only the Nike shoe stands out the most. On the bottom it says, “Your may not survive the blast, but your shoes will.” The ad is trying to get the buyers attention by proving that their shoes will last long than any other brand.
On the website that I found this ad at, the title was called “Nike Terrorism Ad.” By showing blood on the ground, it shows death and a loss; but then shows Nike’s shoe to prove that if you wear Nike shoes, then you can last through anything. This ad doesn’t just relate to people and death and outlasting that, but it also relates to anything with sports. If you wear a Nike shoe, then you will be able to achieve anything and outlast all of your competitors. In the United States, and around the world, terrorism draws a lot of attention. By focusing this advertisement towards terrorism, it draws the attention of the consumer. It is kind of an evil ad because the people in the background look like they are scraping people off the ground or something. The image of blood on the ground draws in your attention and then the people in the background being blurred draws more focus on the shoe. For many athletes, the right shoe can make all of the difference in performing. The durability of the shoe makes a difference in how long it lasts at all. If Nike shoes can outlast all of the other brands of shoes, then who wouldn’t want to buy Nike shoes?
